Rita Jean Swindle Roberts, 80, of Cordova, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at Baptist Health Walker Hospital. A graveside service was held at an earlier date. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery. Kevin Stanford officiated.
She was born in Townley, AL. She loved kids and helping people and retired from nursing. She was an avid dog lover and loved the outdoors. After she was born with spinal tuberculosis and early years spent in hospitals and TB sanatoriums it was hard to keep her inside the rest of her life. She was sent home and told she would not live more than 18 months, she showed them and made it to 80. She met her husband Rick in early 1972, but it took them awhile to get together and they both regretted that. She was the kindest and most loving wife anyone could have, and the best person I ever knew.
She was preceded by her parents, Mary Emily Boshell and Alvie A Swindle; siblings, Johhny Ray Swindle, Jo Lane Swindle Gross, Betty Sue Swindle Gross, Johnnie Faye Swindle Gomez, and Hubert Swindle; grandparents, John and Mary Swindle and Samuel and Birdie Boshell; grandson, Tyler Sybertz; nephew, Byron Gross.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey Rickey Roberts; and grandchildren, Riker Roberts and Colette Roberts.
Pallbearers were Tony Love, Forrest Roberts, and Rick Roberts.
