Rev. L.C. Guthrie, 85, of Jasper, Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at his residence. The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, from noon until 1 p.m., at the Zion United Methodist at 1910 3rd Street SW in Jasper. Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Zion United Methodist, with burial at Guthrie Cemetery on Holly Grove Road in Townley. Rev. Anthony Gilbreath and Rev. Jerry White will officiate. Rev. Guthrie served as a Methodist minister for 45 years in the North Alabama Conference. He was a teacher and coach at Lupton School. He served seven years in the United States Air Force, with a final rank of Staff Sergeant. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University, as well as a Bachelor of Divinity at Emory University. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Guthrie and Myrtle Worley Guthrie; and brother, Eugene Guthrie. He is survived by his wife, Annie Sue Guthrie; sons, Joel Guthrie (Elizabeth) and Lamar Guthrie; grandchildren, Jason Guthrie, Rachel Guthrie, Joseph Guthrie and Joshua Guthrie; sisters, Mary Alice Boshell (Alfred), Alice Faye Boshell, and Sybil Jean Prescott (James); and a host of nieces and nephews.
