Jerry Clifford Sparks

Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 10 until 11 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Scott Cemetery. Brian Law will officiate.

Jerry served in the United States Navy from 1957-1966 after graduating from Carbon Hill High School. After his career in the Navy, Jerry became a Birmingham Firefighter working most of his career at station 13 and retired after 25 years of service. In 1975, he met and married the love of his life, Jean, and spent the last 48 years together until they meet again.

He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Layne; grandson, Scotty Casey; parents, Garlin and Nella Dean Sparks and sister, Betty Dean.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Giles Sparks; children, Jerri Lynn Sparks, Sonya Byrd (Tom), Donna Hamilton (Duane), Patsy Fields, Tim Sparks (Alicia), Shane Sparks (Kathy) and Joe Rouse; grandchildren, Olivia Guarino, Andrew Guarino, B.T. Byrd, Megan Byrd, Erin Tipton, Nicholas Self, Riley Averett, Mikayla Coley, Tanner Sparks, Preston Sparks, Joey Rouse, Jake Rouse and Deanna Gibson; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Donald Sparks (Shirley) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
