Jason White was born in 1972, to Thurman White and Shelby White. He attended Sipsey Junior High and would later go on to graduate from Walker High School. Jason joined the workforce directly out of high school and had many different job titles throughout his life. Perhaps his favorite titles were father, husband, as well as the proud title of grandfather he obtained in his last couple of months on Earth. If you knew Jason in his early years, you know that he spent the majority of his time at the ball field, which is where he met Shannon, later they married in July 28,1995, in Pineywoods, Alabama. Jason enjoyed many years of slow pitch softball, as well as many years of traveling far and wide to support his children playing ball. He loved any and all sports and took pride in the opportunity to not only coach his daughter and son, but also countless football and softball players throughout the years. Jason will be remembered for his ability to never meet a stranger, as well as the responsibility of making sure everyone in the room was having a good time.
Jason fought a very private and tough battle with cancer in the last two years of his life. Although his cancer journey was tough, it did not define who he was. The White family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Clearview Cancer Center in Jasper for always showing kindness and compassion to Jason and his family.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Joey Ann Henderson; father, Thurman E. “J.T.” White Jr.; grandparents, Thurman E. White Sr. and Verla Hanes; step-grandmother, Eva White, Lee and Carrie Brown; father-in-law, Joey Dale Graves; and sister-in-law, Rhonda White.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Shannon Graves White; children, Rilee Henderson (Noah) and Zeke White; grandson, Shepherd Bradley Henderson; mother, Shelby Brown White; brother, Jeff White; sister-in-law, Kaci Williams (Brett) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Jason expressed his wishes in the event of his passing. Instead of memorial flowers, donations are requested for either of his children, Rilee or Zeke. These donations will help to address medical expenses that have accumulated during Jason’s two-year battle with cancer.
