Hazel Kyle Sherer, age 92, of Jasper died peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 4th. Visitation will be from 12 until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Kilgore-Green Chapel with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Adam Brewer will officiate.
She was a teacher for 28 years in the Walker County and Jasper City School Systems. She taught at Farmstead and later at West Jasper School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Sherer, her son-in-law Billy Bradford; parents John C. and Carrie Kyle; brother Dewey Kyle; sisters Jessie Brown, Elsie Nabors, Nora Barrett and Mildred McSpadden.
She is survived by her children: Frank Sherer (Millie), Steve Sherer, Ann Simmons (Don), Judy Bradford, David Sherer (Tammy) all of Jasper; grandchildren David Lee Sherer (Donna), Bradley Simmons (Ashley), Brittney Macon (Kris), Blake Simmons, Emily Bradford, Hillary Bradford, and Kerri Norris (Buck); great-grandchildren Chase Sherer (Brittany Walker), Sawyer Simmons, Harper Simmons, Vivienne Macon and Tucker Norris; great-great-grandchildren Gabe Sherer and Freya Sherer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: David Lee Sherer, Bradley Simmons, Blake Simmons, Chase Sherer, Kris Macon and Buck Norris.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her dedicated caregivers: Dolley Miller, Krystal Webb, Breanna Boshell, Sharon Forrest, Debra Nix, Debra Davis and Ashley Sims. Also they would like to thank the staff of New Beacon Hospice; especially Steve Tubbs, Maegan Mitchell, Gail Bice and Carla Henson.
