Family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 9 until 11 a.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Wilson Chapel Cemetery. Ben Wright and Levi Sides will officiate.
Bruce was a graduate of Walker County High School in 1969 and the University of Alabama in 1973. He retired in 2011 as Executive Vice President of Government Affairs Drummond Company after 36 years and then became Director of the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway Board until 2014. He was a genuine servant leader in various capacities within the community and an Elder for the West Walker Church of Christ. He had a passion for family, especially his grandchildren, singing, golfing with friends, Alabama football, his lab Tua, and teaching young adult Bible study. Bruce loved life and lived it to the fullest providing many wonderful memories to those blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Vivian Windham; mother-in-law, Jewel Fields; brothers, Max Windham (Nellie Jo), Joe Windham, Kenneth Windham (Gail) and James Windham; brother-in-law, Bob Daniel; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Osborn (Nicky).
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sheila Windham; sons, Jason Windham (Erin) and Jeremy Windham (Amanda); grandchildren, Brock, Emmy and Brodie; sisters, Betty Daniel, Ann Myers (Carl) and Nell Windham; sisters-in-law, Jane, Carolyn, Joyce (Wayne) and Stella (Kenny) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Southeast Hospice and nursing staff Rawnda, Angie, Jordan, Ronica, Miranda, Emma and Brook.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bruce Windham Memorial Fund at Pinnacle Bank of Jasper for establishment of a scholarship fund in memory of Bruce Windham for high school graduates who demonstrate excellence in leadership or to Indian Creek Youth Camp or to the Wilson Cemetery Fund.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brock Windham, Brodie Windham, Kenny Vanzant, Carl Myers, Wayne Kimbrell, Dwight Hicks, Steve Humphries and all his beloved nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kenny W. Vanzant, Keith Vanzant, David Preston, Kevin Richardson, Chris Robbins, Vince Roden, Braden Wright and Blake Wright.
