Christine was a loving hard working mama and granny. She was a caring Christian lady who loved her church and friends. She loved her five girls and their families and was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She cooked large Sunday dinners for her big brood where they feasted on her fried chicken and desserts until she was almost 90 years old. She loved spending time in her vegetable garden and growing her flowers. When she no longer was able to work in her garden, she loved sitting in her swing looking at her flowers and watching cars go by tooting their horns at her. Below is a poem written by Pat, her daughter, in tribute to our wonderful mama.
Our Mama
We didn’t live in a mansion or drive a fancy car, but having mama for a mama made us who we are. She sewed our clothes, curled our hair, put food up in a jar. Having mama for a mama made us who we are. She raised her chickens, made a garden and even mowed her yard. Having mama for a mama made us who we are. She read her bible, loved her God, had friends both near and far. Having a mama for a mama made us who we are. From day to day, year to year she’s been our shining star. Having mama for a mama made us who we are.
