Family will be receiving friends on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at 1 p.m., with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Dr. Tim Trillet will officiate.
Charlotte loved teaching for 38 years. She loved working with children. In addition to teaching she was very active in her church and MS Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. She was also an active member of Desoto/Tate Baptist Association Disaster Relief. Mrs. Hampton was a Sunday school teacher and worked with Operation Christmas Child. In MS Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, she worked in childcare, chaplaincy, feeding, Incident Command Team and assessing. Charlotte’s greatest joy was sharing the gospel and her family, her husband, her daughter, son-in-law and her precious granddaughter brought her happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Huntley Steele and Dorothy Mae Zachary; mother-in-law, Jane Crew Hampton and sister-in-law, Diana E. Sanders - Steele.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Maury John Hampton of Southaven, MS; daughter, Laura Ann Hampton Wester (Brett) of Panama City, FL; granddaughter, Claire Kathryn Wester; brothers, James Huntley Steele, Jr. (Linda) of Olive Branch, MS and John Allen Steele of Hernando, MS and 3 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Desoto/Tate Baptist Association Disaster Relief, PO Box 381, Hernando, MS 38632.
Pallbearers will be Jim Steele, John Steele, Kyle Steele, Joey Steele, Brett Wester and Danny Ivy.
