The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens.
Bruce retired after serving in the Army for over 20 years. He received the Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam in June of 1968. He also received the Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (2D Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the National Defense service medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. After retirement he managed a service station at the end of Airport Road for years before opening a mechanic shop behind his house.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joy McConnel; parents, Claude Harris Sr. and Ollie Lee Harris; sisters, Clara Belle Harris Tubbs, Bernice Harris Duncan, and Edith Harris Pope; brothers, Carlin Harris, Clamon Harris, and Walter Will Harris.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana Harris (James) Humphries and Denise Harris (Bruce) Cagle; grandchildren, Candice Cagle and Cameron Cagle; great grandchildren, Kate Cagle, Kyra Cagle, and Henry Cagle; sisters, Jeanette Harris Nix and Aileen Harris Chamness; brothers, Claude Harris Jr., Albert (Brenda) Harris, and Ronald (Rita) Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jade Farley.
