He was born in Parrish on Dec. 13, 1947, to Burt and Irene Williams. He was the eldest of nine children. He graduated from Parrish High School in 1966, and then served in Vietnam. He was injured in combat and was awarded multiple commendations and a Purple Heart.
After returning home, he met his wife Sandra and they were married on Aug. 15, 1970. Together they had two sons, Shane and Jason. Bill and James, Sandra’s dad, built their family home in Townley. Bill worked in the coal mines for 42 years as an electrician. He made many friendships over the years between work, playing golf and coaching youth sports.
Bill’s sons and four grandchildren were his entire world. He never missed a T-Ball game, ballet recital or school program. Church was a very important part of his life. He served as an elder for over 25 years. Every Sunday he would take the grandkids to the front of the church for Children’s Church. He always knew and shared with us how important faith and family are.
