Betty Tucker Swinney

Betty Jane Tucker Swinney, of West Jefferson, Alabama, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 10:23 PM. She was 87 years old. Betty was born on October 23, 1935 in Jasper, Alabama and passed away in Kennesaw, Georgia. She lived a remarkable life.

Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 12 until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Old Zion Cemetery.

Betty was an accountant by trade. She loved her family, friends, her work, road trips, southern gospel music, and attending marching band/drum corps activities. Betty was a bass drummer in her high school marching band, a graduate of Walker County High School, and held an Associate Degree from Wallace State Community College. She earned The President's Award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She loved to volunteer her time and support her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all of their activities.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Bearden Tucker and James Ernest Tucker; two children, Brenda Canterbury and Tim Swinney. She is survived by three children, Carolyn Trapani, Kenneth Swinney, and David Swinney; grandchildren, Jeff Canterbury, Stephanie Wolfe, Paige Heistand, Chris Nichols, Lena Simmons, Kevin Shores, Shannon Shores, Richard Colburn, Drew Swinney, Jake Swinney, Abby Coss, Erin Swinney, and Samuel Swinney; and many beloved great grandchildren.
