Phillip Duane Edwards Jr.

Phil "P.J." retired from the United States Marine Corps in 2012 after 10 1/2 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Armed Forces of America Motorcycle Club since 2010. He volunteered with Southwest Soccer Club for numerous years, served as a Coach for his kids soccer teams, and he was the assistant Bear Den Leader with Pack 879. Phil not only lived his life to the fullest, but loved to the fullest as well. He was dedicated to his country, family and friends; always giving of himself to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Edwards Sr.; uncle, John Edwards and grandfather, William Edwards.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Destiny Edwards; daughter, Natasha Edwards; son, Philip Edwards; mother, Janet Edwards of Lexington, NC; siblings, Shannon Klinefelter of Oxford, GA, Renee Holden of Erie, PA, Eric Holden (Jenny) of Lexington, NC, Amanda Hiwiller (Larry) of Galveston, TX, and Samantha Edwards of Beaufort, SC; numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family members.

A celebration of life service, with full military honors, will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, July 13 at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. and again from 12-1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be forwarded to the SECU family house at NHRMC, 1523 Physicians Drive, Wilmington , NC 28401.
