Pete was born to the late Will and Eva Stanley. He resided in Richlands and graduated from Richlands High School in 1955. Pete honorably served in the United States Navy and went on to retire from Western Union in California. He returned to North Carolina in 1997 where he met and fell in love with Shirley. Pete shared a love of football and especially the Oakland Raiders. He and his wife owned Shirley’s Alterations of Jacksonville. He served his community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels and delivering hot meals to the senior community of Onslow County.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Stanley, her daughters and their families. Ronita and Tom Carter, Wendy Ellis, Robert Ellis and Alice and Timothy Ranker. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren; Donovan Langston, Danielle Carter, Patrick Rogers, Lynnsey Ellis, Alyssa Ranker and Dylan Carter and two great-grandchildren; Rainy Myles Langston and Molllianna Langston.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Errett Marshburn of Christian Life Fellowship, officiating. Burial will follow at the Onslow Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to the Christian Life Fellowship or Continuum Home Care & Hospice, both of Jacksonville.
