William Joseph Roy

William Joseph Roy, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away on December 4, 2022 at the age of 64 at his home in Franklin, Tennessee. Bill was a long-time member of Pine Castle in Jacksonville, Florida before moving to Tennessee with family. Throughout his life, Bill was a passionate fan of professional wrestling, football, and loved to go bowling every chance he could. Bill never met a stranger and was always eager to ask “How are you?”.

Bill loved any Italian food, especially pizza, and would always drink a “beer” to wash it down. It is an indisputable fact that Bill holds the record for number of phone calls to family and friends. He was rarely seen without his phone in his hand as he loved to talk to people. Bill also loved all kinds of music, especially gospel music, which he was known to sing at all hours of the day and night and occasionally while playing guitar. He loved to worship the Lord. Bill will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Dorothy Roy, and his older brother Lansing Roy. His surviving relatives are his sister, Suzanne Green, and her three sons Jeff, Darin, and Jason. Bill is also survived by his sister-in-law Jo Ann Roy, and her sons Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and daughters Jennifer and Elizabeth. Bill is also survived by numerous great nephews and nieces.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard, in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with funeral service officiated by Mark Roy at 1:00 pm. Graveside service will be held for family afterwards.
