Wayne John Moore born February 24th 1946, loving husband, caring father,, and brother, departed this world on Saturday, December 11th 2010, with his family by his side after a lengthy illness.
Wayne graduated from Andrew Jackson class of 1964, and later received his Associate Degree from Florida State College of Jacksonville. Wayne proudly served in Vietnam, before beginning his thirty-seven years of service with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, retiring as a sergeant in 2004. Wayne was amember of American Legion Troop #0400, as well as Nutty Buddy’s R.V. Club, and the Gator fan Caravan. Gator football and camping filled his retirement days. Of all his activities, he most enjoyed spending time with his family.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Charlotte, whom he was immensely devoted to for forty-two years, his children Chip (Suzanne), Kellie (Rick) and John (Elisha), his sister Tara, two brothers Corky and Mark and step-mother Jenny. Wayne has ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne will be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched during his life. As a training sergeant with the J.S.O. Wayne was able to mentor many young officers who later became leaders in the department. He was wel respected and known as a man who did what was right, simply because it was right. As is the case with men of his character, he will be forever missed and never replaced.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, December 16, 2010 11:00 a.m. at Harvest Time Sanctuary Church of God, 4502 Old Middleburg Rd. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
