Warren Tanner, born in Douglas, Georgia on December 18, 1943, entered into eternal grace with the Lord Jesus Christ on the afternoon of December 23, 2021. Warren was born and raised as part of a small farming family outside Douglas in the 1940’s and 1950’s that includes his father Gordon, mother Frances, and brother Wayne. Warren later was blessed to be married to his sweetheart, Shelby, who originally lived in a nearby town in Georgia but whom he met here in Jacksonville. He had two cherished children, Michael Warren (Diane) and Kimberly Marie. He also had loving grandchildren near him, including Dr. Jill Ward (Matt), John Adcox (Aryn), Sophie McIntosh, and his great grandchildren, Maci and Matthew Ward.
After a short period in the United States Air Force, Warren worked for 20 years with the CSX railroad system in the mechanical department in Jacksonville and retired in the 1980’s to spend more time with family and hobbies he cherished. Warren enjoyed several hobbies including jogging, astronomy, fishing and being involved in the churches he attended. One of his most cherished Church duties was singing in the Choir at Argyle Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at noon at San Jose Baptist Church, 6140 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32217. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow the funeral service at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
In lieu of flowers, the Family would like to request donations made in his name to San Jose Baptist Church, 6140 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32217.
