Walter Joel Wightman III, age 78, died April 19, 2017 in Clay County Hospice. He was retired from the City of Jacksonville Water Distribution. He graduated from Lee High School in 1957. Joe served eight years in the Coast Guard reserves until 1965. His passions were fishing and hunting which he enjoyed with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Wightman; sons, Joe Wightman (Debbie), Mark Wightman (Jannette) and daughter Nita Svendsen (Robbie); sister, Lois Johnson and many nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who all loved to fish with their granddaddy.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at Town & Country Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held for Joe on Saturday at 1pm at Riverside Memorial Park. HARDAGE-GIDDENS TOWN & COUNTRY FUNERAL HOME, 7242 Normandy Boulevard is serving the family.
