Walter Davis went to heaven on March 28, 2018, at the age of 88 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his beautiful wife Rita of 67 years. Also his children Cynthia, Billie Jean, Walter Jr. (Neva), Gary (Debbie), Connie (Robert), and David. Walter Davis had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces who were his greatest fans. He has two surviving sisters, Sue and Bobby Ruth. He was preceded in death by his father, John Calvin Davis, his mother, Marquerite Evelyn Beck, his son David Neal Davis, and sisters Joyce, Bernice, and Barbra.
Walter Davis started his military career at age 15 years in the United States Marine Corps as a gunner on the USS Antietam during WWII. He left the marines and joined the army in 1947. He served in World War II, the Korean War, and in the Vietnam War for 3 tours. Walter Davis served in the military in the intelligence field as a special agent, completing his military career in 1976 as a Command Sergeant Major.
After 32 years in the service he retired and moved to Silver City, NM. He owned and operated his own business. While he lived there he completed his degree in Criminal Justice at the University of New Mexico. In 1984 Walter Davis moved to Sierra Vista, AZ to take a job working for the government, at their request, to teach military students at Fort Huachuca, AZ, their military intelligence school for 5 years.
In 1972 SGM Walter Davis met Jesus at the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship (FGBMF) Regional Convention in Dallas, Texas. There he became born again and received The Holy Spirit. He served as the president of the FGBMF in Silver City, NM and in AZ. During his time in Silver City he served on the board of the city's 1st Assembly Of God Church. He worked on many outreaches to share the love of Christ to others. He was a faithful servant of Christ. He will always be remembered for his faith and his love of country, but most of all, for his love for his wife, family, and friends.
