Theo L. “Bill” Matthews passed away December 1, 2010. He was born February 8, 1926 in Cullman, Alabama and moved to Jacksonville as a young man. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and retired from St. Regis Paper Company after many years service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Orange Park and Arlington Masonic Lodge #309 and a life member of Morroco Shrine and the Legion of Honor.
Mr. Matthews is survived by: his loving wife of 56 years, Louise; son Gary (Patti); and (3) grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Kent.
The family will receive friends Sunday December 5, 2010 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held, Monday, December 6, 2010 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery, Tuesday, December 7, 2010 1p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice or the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital.
