Teresa Ellison Carter, 96, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2011. She was the daughter of William Shepherd Ellison and Lual A. Dease Ellison, and was the wife for 33 years of the late Percy M. Carter. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ocie, Lonnie, Marvin, Morris, John and Nard, sisters Martha, Gertie, Effie, Margaret and Pearl, stepson, Kenneth Carter and stepdaughter Barbara Clemmons. She is survived by her stepchildren Joyce Adams, Percy Milton Carter, Jr., Randi (Phyllis) King and Eugene Williams, 18 grandchildren , many great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Teresa was a very generous, compassionate and caring person who was active in her church and her community, and she touched many lives. She was also a fun-loving adventurous woman who loved to travel (both in the U. S. and abroad), and even resided in South America for a time. She will be missed by her caregiver of many years, nephew and his wife, Lamar and Jeanie Ellison, her family, her friends, church family and those who have been recipients of her generosity over the years .
Services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God. Viewing will be at 10:00 a. m., with the funeral service at 11:00 a. m. Interment will be immediately following at Riverside Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Walter F. Jarvis, Jr., David Jarvis, Hardy Jarvis, David Carter, Junior Griggs and William Gough. Honorary Pallbearers will be Great-Grandsons.
