Sylvia Marie Pryor-Sessions

Sylvia Marie Pryor-Sessions passed away at Community Hospice 1:40pm May 3, 2015 at the age of 79. Sylvia is preceded by her husband Reverend Eugene Pryor and her sister Katherine Thompson. Sylvia is survived by her long time love, Henry Sessions and his family, with whom we all joined in the presence of family and friends 23 years ago. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Kevin (Annette) of Jacksonville, daughter Deirdre (Darryl) of Nashville TN, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sisters Debra Thompson and Edwina Whitfield, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sylvia was born in Natchitoches, LA on September 7, 1935. She attended Dillard University in New Orleans where she joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was Licensed Practical Nurse who earned her Bachelors of Science in Health from Southern Illinois University. She worked in hospitals, private duty and schools as a nurse to help support her family. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts and spending time with her family. Syliva was a member of first Baptist Church of Jacksonville and former First Lady of Shiloh M.B. and Epiphany Baptist churches. The visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205 on Friday May 8th, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville (Hobson Auditorium) 124 West Ashley Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202 on Saturday May 9th, 2015 at 11:00 AM, followed by a committal service at Restlawn Memorial Park, 2600 Ribault Scenic Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32208. After the committal, the repast will be held at Town & Country Funeral Home at 2:00 PM.
