

Stuart Wood Edwards Jr. born February 29, 1936 peacefully passed away October 9, 2011 after a valiant battle to overcome colon cancer and the many complications associated with it. He was born in Jacksonville where he spent a joyful and loving childhood with family and friends. He graduated from Landon High School in 1954 along with many lifelong friends. He went on to attend and graduate from Emory University. Stuart was a member of the Epsilon Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Stuart was a veteran of the United States Army and Army National Guard. During this time, he married Helen Harford. He and Helen resided in Jacksonville with their two daughters during their 49 years of marriage. Stuart was a local Independent Insurance Agent for his family’s business. He was very active in the Masonic Duval Lodge 159 F&AM, York Rite Bodies, Morocco Temple, and Royal Order of Jesters. Stuart is survived by his wife Helen, daughters Amanda Cribb (Denis) and Lesley BassJohnson (Louis), grandchildren Casey, Kelli, Hannah B, Thomas and Hannah J, brother Norman (Cheryl), and many nieces and nephews. . There will be a celebration of Stuarts life held at 2pm Monday, October 17, 2011 in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home located at 4115 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville FL. 32207 The Edwards family request that donations in Stuart’s name be made to the American Cancer Society and the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital
