On February 12, 2019, we lost Master Sergeant Stewart Lee “Kiwi” Bowles of Jacksonville, FL, as result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident. We lost a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. An avid motorcycle rider, Lee loved life and lived it to the fullest. A 33 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Lee served honorably post 9/11 as a crew chief for the 125th Fighter Wing of Jacksonville FL. Lee, 3rd Vise and rider of the American Legion Post 137, was preparing for retirement in 2020.
Beloved husband of Shelby (nee Wieda) Bowles and stepfather of Allen Rutland; loving father of Stewart and Crystal Bowles; dearest brother of Barbara, Chuck, Dale, and Robert Bowles; step brother of Susan Egerton, Christeen Hansen and Liza North; adored grandfather of Madison, Morgan, Emily Grace, Synthia, and Michael Bowles; also survived by many relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Lee (nee Lugenbeel); father, Phillip Stewart; son, Craig “Peewee”; brother, Norman and sister, Donna Bowles.
The family will be present on Thursday from 6PM-8 PM at the Hardage-Gidden Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11AM at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, 5755 Ramona Blvd., with Burial Services with Military Honors to follow at 2PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Reception will be held at the American Legion Post #137, 5443 San Juan Ave. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Lee’s name to the Patriot Guard Riders of Florida.
