My brother Steve amazed me in many ways..though younger than myself his mind was forever seeking knowledge..whether his science experiment at age 4 years or creating a mini telescope at 7 years from aluminum and looking at stars 🌟  Sept 16 2022 Steve would have been 70 years in earth years by the Roman calendar. He is forever young in heaven with our brothers Mike Hayes and Mark Henderson and our sister Kathryn Henderson Gambill Whitlock Kane.  Steve s love remains forever with myself Laura Colleen Hayes Arlunas and our sister Jeanne  Thornton Scott  Milligan who grew up in the same household..he deeply loved his siblings from his Dad s former marriage..Donald ..Lavon..Robert and Bobbie  Jo Henderson and his many cousins nephews and nieces..shine on Steve you are my brightest star.

As Steve's older sister, when I was twelve years old and Steven was eight years old, He baked a Birthday Cake for me. He earned extra money by helping his older brother Mike fold and prepare news- papers for delivery on his bike route. He bought hot dogs to grill on skewers made of coat hangers. He built the fire on the lid of our trashcan.  My memory represents his creativity from an early age and his love for family and food. He will be well remembered for his awesome family and friends gatherings for years to come.

The Henderson family stars in so many of my childhood memories from sharing my first communion with Jon to hosting us for many family vacations along the way.  The Henderson’s also hosted me and my gaggle of friends for Easter dinner when we were nearby for senior spring break! The only way my parents  would allow me to go on spring break was in we were nearby the Henderson’s. Such dear friends to my family, you will be missed. 

Ann, Steven, John, Michelle, Devin and Cooper we are heartbroken over the loss of Big Daddy. We are praying for the entire Henderson family and his many friends.  We will never forget the countless memories of working together and then becoming neighbors and family! Your family has always been so kind and generous to us. There are too many backyard BBQ's, Karaoke and Sangria Parties to list but we know they all took place because Steve was always ready for a good time and he had the bigger deck!  We know he has been met at the gates of heaven by the many ancestors he tirelessly researched over the years and is ready to throw the biggest party yet.  Steve, keep the Mic's queued up for us!

It is my blessing to be one of many first cousins of Steve.  Even though we met only a few times, we shared an interest in genealogy and communicated by phone and email several times over many decades. He would frequently be pursuing a lead of an ancestor with ties to Virginia and would call me to help, since the Virginia archives was just a few blocks from my office for many years.  Because of those contacts, I felt a particular closeness to Steve.  He was a wonderful gentleman, I am immensely proud to be his cousin and I will miss our all too infrequent but always cordial conversations.
