Simone Natalie Culley departed this life on December 15, 2020 at Baptist Downtown in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by family and friends. Her passing was subsequent to an extensive three-year health battle which she fought with courage, faith, and hope.
Simone was born on April 11, 1978 to Veronica Wallerson and Rendell Stephens in Brooklyn New York. Growing up she was very close to her grandmother Agnes Wallerson. She graduated from Midwood High School in 1996. She went on to attend The City University of New York Brooklyn College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Finance in 2000. Simone’s interest in finance was sparked by her participation in a high school internship at Merrill Lynch, which would ultimately lead to a successful career with the company spanning more than two decades. During the financial crisis of 2008, Simone returned to school to pursue a degree in nursing. She graduated from St. Petersburg College in 2012, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She subsequently received her nursing license and worked part time with geriatric patients at St. Catherine Laboure' Place.
Simone was introduced to her husband, Seon Culley, through a mutual friend in 2003. The couple married in Brooklyn New York in 2008. Her husband describes her as the love of his life and the embodiment of the proverbial virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She constantly spoke with wisdom and kindness, cherished her family, diligently cared for their daughter and home, was faithful, endured, and loved the Lord. Simone and Seon were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Gabriella Agnes Culley, on June 14, 2016. Simone’s love for her daughter was deep and profound and her desire to raise Gabriella motivated and inspired the intensity in which she fought her illness.
Simone had a great sense of humor, was a very empathic listener, and had the ability to comfort and reassure family and friends. She was selfless and placed the need of others above herself. She enjoyed shopping for that perfect accent for her home, decorating, spending time with friends, concerts, traveling, attending to her dogs, and gardening. She was notorious for her love for HomeGoods, TJMaxx, and Ross stores. Above all else, Simone enjoyed spending time with her daughter.
Simone is survived by her husband Seon, her daughter Gabriella, her mother Veronica, her grandfather Wilfred, her half-brother Ian, and her three toy poodles Maximillian, Cody, and Maple. She is also survived by a large network of extended family and cherished friends. She is preceded in death by her Grandmother Agnes.
