Shirley Langford Welch, age 78, of Jacksonville, passed away on January 25, 2018, at her home. She was born September 20, 1939, in Jasper, FL to Rheaumie and Collis Langford. She graduated from Paxon High School and worked for Southern Bell for 35 years. Upon her retirement, Shirley lovingly took care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a long-term member of the Masonic Lodge with Eastern Star. Shirley will be forever missed by sons David, Jeffrey, and Kevin Welch and daughters-in-law Sherry, Stacie and Ginger; and her beloved grandchildren Brandon, Joshua, David, and Samantha Luchner; great-grandchildren Brooklynn and Aiden; sisters Lucille Nash, Janice Williamson, Ronnie Langford and Pam Roberts. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, David A. Welch, as well as siblings Robert Langford and Dorothy McCormick.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, January 30, at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 31 at the funeral home followed by interment at Riverside Memorial Park. Donations can be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
