Sharon Faye Jones, 80, of Jacksonville, Florida passed into God’s arms peacefully on August 24, 2022. She was born April 20, 1942 in Hillsboro, Kansas to the late Bill Scheikofsky and Nettie Mae Klatt. At the age of 16 years old she began a one-year pen pal relationship with her future husband, Huey Jones. They had been introduced through letter writing and picture sharing by Sharon’s late brother Lowell Scheikofsky who was serving in the U.S. Navy with a young 20-year-old Navy corpsman – Huey Jones. He traveled to Kansas on leave, and asked Sharon’s mother for permission to marry Sharon. They were married August 25, 1958 and was widowed by Huey’s passing on April 20, 2020.
Sharon and Huey started a young family and a small farm. Sharon was not much of a ‘cook’ when they married, but Huey and his family taught her how to cook the Southern way. After those early years, she ended up being the best cook in family. Sharon was the world’s best mother and strongest person in a family of five. Sharon was foundation of our family. Sharon and Huey had three sons: Steven, Michael (deceased) and Curtis. Sharon is also survived by her brother, Gary Stubby; four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren; sister-in laws, Linda Johnson and Ruth Eubanks. She touched the lives of many people during her lifetime and during her 25-year career at Merita Bread Company. Mom braved a long battle with Alzheimer’s, but is in peace now and without pain. The family feels her and Huey have met up once more in heaven as the day following her passing would have been there 65th wedding anniversary.
