Sharon was born on September 9, 1948, to Harbert M. Davis Jr. and Margaret (Peggy) Mary Pow at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. She grew up in a military family and eventually moved to Jacksonville, FL as a young girl which would become her lifetime home. As a young child, Sharon and her brothers lived with their paternal grandmother in Birmingham, AL for a period of time while their father was out to sea. She would later describe this time as one of the happiest memories of her childhood and she treasured her relationship with her Grandmother Davis and all her aunts and uncles her entire life, as many were also like siblings to her. At 16, she met David Fisher, the love of her life. David was 4 years her senior and they married in 1966 and began their young, adventurous life. Sharon always described David as jovial and happy, as he always made her laugh. They truly were soulmates in life. Despite circumstances in her childhood, she made it her mission to be the best wife, mother and Mimi she could be. Together, they lovingly raised David Jr. (Dink) and Crystal. She truly made their house a home and celebrated both the big and small moments throughout life. She especially enjoyed the holidays, decorating the house and cooking and baking family favorites for many years.
Sharon held many positions throughout her life including switchboard operator, school bus driver, grocery store clerk with Pantry Pride and numerous positions with Duval County Schools, the latter being her place of employment for over 33 years. Working in the school system allowed her the opportunity to be home with her school-aged children during summer and winter breaks, while still enabling her to care for her home of which she did so meticulously. Her school career began at Kings Trail Elementary and then she moved to Loretto Elementary when her and her husband built their home in 1977 in Mandarin. At both schools, she was a kindergarten teacher's aide and loved working with the young children, especially leading the class in arts and crafts to decorate the room for the various seasons. She also enjoyed special projects such as creating silhouettes for each child at Mother's Day for the children to present to their mothers. Eventually, Sharon moved into the main office, working in attendance and records. In the mid-80's, Sharon had the opportunity to move to Wolfson Senior High School. Next, she moved to Mandarin High School during its inaugural year in 1989 and completed her career at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, retiring in 2009. At all 3 high schools, she held various positions in the Guidance Department and always enjoyed interacting with the high schoolers, many coming to visit her years after their graduation.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David C. Fisher, Sr. (2011) and son, David C. Fisher, Jr. (2019).
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Crystal Renae Fisher-Punsky, along with her husband Michael J. Punsky, her granddaughter, Allison Joy Fisher, the daughter of her son David. She also leaves behind several extended relatives, and other friends.
