Scott Gregory Mitchell - On August 25, 2010 our family sadly said goodbye to our son, brother, husband, father, and friend. Scott was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 24, 1967 to Jody Florence and Howard Mitchell; he was the youngest child and full of life. The constant practical joker, he kept his family and friends laughing.
Scott grew up an avid skier; he enjoyed skateboarding, golf, and loved all sports whether it was the Jazz, the Ute’s, the Cowboys, or the Mets. He particularly loved his Nascar rivalry with his step-father Ray. Most of all Scott loved making people laugh, he was quite a prankster, always the life of any party, and could put a smile on even the saddest of faces. He also took great pride in his work as an Operations Manager for FedEx Freight for over 20 years. Above of all he loved his children, Brock and Maddy, the lights of his life in which he had constant pride. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, children; Brock and Madelynn, his mother Jody, father Howard (Benita), siblings; Cathie Bartholomew, Dave Florence (Cindy), Pam Reeves (Jerry), Terri Gurzi, Brad Mitchell (Linda), David Mitchell (Kim) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his step father Ray Florence and his grandparents Carl and Mildred Abernathy.
Services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin in Jacksonville Florida on Sunday, August 29th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and a public viewing in Salt Lake City, Utah on Wednesday, September 1st at Larkin Sunset Lawn( 2350 East 1300 South) from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Internment on Thursday, September 2nd at 11:00am at Mt.
