I loved your Mom, who I grew up calling "Momma Sally."  I'm so sorry for your pain and loss.  She was one of the most alive and spiritited people I've ever known and I hope she will team up with Joe soon enough for a golf date in heaven.  I so rember both of them and all they've meant to me and my family, especially when your parents stayed with us for two weeks when my Dad had a stroke.  I hat that I cannot be with you all in person, as does Mom, Rob and Sissy.  We send you all our love and prayers to you mad your families.  Know that we share your grief and are with you in spirit.

As per Sallye's teaching, a perfect example of its benefit is the fact that I realize that my previous words revolved around me, and my loss of Sallye. (Her teaching reached me.)  
Forgive me, Joanne, Becky, Tommy, and your families. I know your loss is much greater.  My heart goes out to each of you. We all loved her and bid her farewell with so much love!

Sallye was such a delightful person to be around, always smiling, fun to play golf with at San Jose! I just knew she was a wonderful mother because of her temperament and calm mannner.  I am so sorry for your loss and wish I could attend her service but cannot.

I grew up with the Becky and Tommy and remember your mother well. She was such a sweet lady with a beautiful smile.  I am sorry for your loss.

My dearest friend in the world, who has generously mothered me over the past four-and-a-half years that I have been blessed to know her, has gone on to live in heaven.  I know the angels tenderly prepared for her, and I hope she has met Jesus, her late husband, parents and the many others she had lost. My father's marker reads:
With Sadness I Leave Those I Love
With Joy I Meet Those I Have Lost
Certainly this applies to Sallye as well.  My own life will not be the same without her.  We talked 2 or 3 times weekly.  She would call if I missed church to see what was the matter.  She talked me through times when I was afraid or at wit's end. She encouraged and strenghthened me, assuring me I was a more capable person than I imagined.  And she tried her best to teach me that since the past is gone, today must take its place. Her teaching was always heavily laced with the teaching of Jesus.  
As I said, she mothered me, and this meant correcting me at times.  I loved it though. "You put too much sugar in your coffee." she would say. "Are you calling from your car? Now, you know you shouldn't talk on the phone and drive." "I agree with you that so-and-so was wrong, but you must find it in your heart to forgive, otherwise you are more wrong than they."
What will I do now that she is gone? And in October, too, just a couple of days removed from the date of my actual mother's death.  I know Sallye would say, "My, my. You'll live. That's what you'll do!  And I'll still be there..." say, "

May the God of all comfort be with you and grant you peace.

Sallye has been our neighbor for at least 35 years and she and my Mom, Martha J. Wynne were very active members of South Side United Methodist Church, as well as, good friends.  She was always on-the-go and was waving good by to us as she "peeped" over the stering wheel of her car.  She gave warm hugs and smiles where ever she went. She loved her family and was very proud of each one of them.  When you saw Sally with Joe you had to know they truly loved each other.  In was only in the last 6 mnths (or less) that she started to slow down. She was always interested in every thing and every one around her and she will be "sorely" missed.
