Samuel Eugene Kasell (Gene), aged 90, passed peacefully at home on August 20, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Lee Kasell. He is survived by his daughter, Becky Loehmann and her husband Jerry. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jenna and Malcolm Culpepper, Jessica Loehmann, and his great-granddaughter Jade. He was a loving brother and is leaving behind his sister Shirley and brother Kenneth. Gene was a proud Marine and served his country during WWII, including the Battle of Iwo Jima. A devoted man of God, Gene faithfully attended Franklin Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country at 7242 Normandy Blvd on Tuesday, August 23rd from 6-8 PM. There will be a celebration of life at Franklin Street Baptist Church at 2521 Franklin Street on Wednesday, August 24th at noon with a reception to follow. There will be a graveside burial at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd.
