Sam J. Cox, 92 of Jacksonville passed away on February 10, 2013. He was born in Shreveport, LA to Lillian and Ambrose Sam Cox on April 8, 1920. Mr. Cox resided in Jacksonville with his late wife, Wilhelmina, since 1945 before moving to Georgia in 2003. She was his devoted wife for sixty-four years. While living in Jacksonville, Mr. Cox was employed by the US Postal Service over thirty three years and worked both at the West Bay Annex location and the General Mail Facility before his retirement. Mr. Cox was a former member of Central Christian Church and a present member of Riverside Avenue Christian Church. He proudly served as a cryptographer in the US Army Air Corp during WWII in England. He is survived by his four children; Betty Paez (Joe), Marjorie Harris (Richard), Mary Fountain, a son, John Patrick Cox and one sister, Geraldine Taylor (Red) of Alabama. He had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends that will miss him. Sam will be remembered for his warm heart, love of family and a sense of humor. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax., FL 32205. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 1:00-2:00 pm. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
