Sally Boggs, 82, passed away from heart failure on June 11, 2021 at St. Vincent’s hospital, 10 years to the day her husband Herb Boggs died. Sally was born on August 16, 1938 in North Jacksonville, Florida. Sally grew up in the church her parents, Rosa and Ben Gibson started in their living room in 1938, North Jacksonville Baptist Church. She attended Grand Park Elementary, Kirby Smith middle school, and Andrew Jackson High School, before going to on to earn an associate degree from Massey Business College.
Sally worked at Southern Bell as a long distance operator. While at Southern Bell she met her husband Herb Boggs who worked for Western Electric. Sally and Herb moved to Arlington in Jacksonville on January 1, 1960 to raise her most important accomplishment in life, her family. She eventually moved to Avondale in 1985. Sally’s most rewarding career was when she managed the Arlington Hair Loft for her son Chuck Sumner for 20 years. After which she retired to pursue her great love of the outdoors. Sally was an avid hunter and fisher, and she camped extensively for 60 years. She also enjoyed RVing. In 2020, Sally was RVing 100 days out of the year. She also did 2, 6 month tours of the United States in the RV. Sally loved Christmas, or any other holiday that got the family together.
A memorial service will be held for her on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207.
