Ruth “Ann” Mills, 90, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on June 23, 1926 in Blackshear, Georgia to the late William Barney and Ethel Irene Cleland Knox. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Scott “RS” Mills. Ann enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, sewing, bingo, listening to music, puzzles and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. She was an extraordinary wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a wonderful friend. After receiving her diploma at Blackshear High School, she went on to receive her Associates Degree in Business in Atlanta, Georgia. Before retiring, Ann had a successful career as a stenographer at CSX in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a woman of God, who celebrated her faith at Mandarin United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her four children, W. Rick (Alison) Henderson, Cheri Pamer, Michael S. Henderson and Kimberly (Lewis) Lee; her grandchildren, Jack (Jennifer) Pamer, Tricia (Chris) Brady Stephens and Summer Wade; great-grandchildren, Shelby Pamer and Brennan Brady; sister, Martha (Spence) Newsome; two brothers, Robert (Lila) Knox and John Knox; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, RS.
