Roxanne J. Currie, 56, a longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 15th, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with acute respiratory distress syndrome and pneumonia. Roxanne's life was filled with her love of family and her late in life career as a Pediatric Oncology Nurse at Wolfson Children's Hospital. Over the past 5 years, Roxanne provided care for many pediatric oncology patients across the country from Washington DC to Seattle as a traveling nurse. She was born in Jacksonville on March 16th 1957 and attended Jacksonville University and received her Nursing degree from FCCJ. She is survived by her 3 children Josh, Chris and Amy and her soul mate and husband of 32 years J.J, her sisters, Deborah Jinright Luke, Jennifer Jinright Grzeskowiak, Jacqueline Jinright Parmenter and sisters and brothers by marriage, Michael, Jan, Brian, Bonnie and Susan Currie. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 20th, at Lakewood United Methodist Church - Chapel, 6133 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32217. The family requests that those attending the service wear cheerful and colorful clothing. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 19th, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm at The Oaklawn Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wolfson Children's Hospital. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family.
