Born in Castine, Maine to parents Ralph and Alice Bowden, Rosemary attended and graduated high school in Belfast, Maine. She would later go on to join the United States Navy in June of 1983 and served as a Personnelman Second Class for six years. She received two Navy Achievement Medals, two good conduct medals, National Defense Service Medal, and a Navy Commendation Medal along with other citations and awards. Rosemary’s last occupation was as an insurance underwriter at Shelly, Middlebrooks and O’Leary in Jacksonville, Florida. In her free time, Rosemary loved to cross-stitch and do anything related to Disney – as evidenced by her wardrobe of Disney themed clothing. She always had a faithful dog by her side, usually a Labrador (most recently one named Kassie). She was a fiercely loyal friend and was loved deeply by all of her family and friends.
Rosemary is predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Michael Vaughn, and her parents, Ralph and Alice Bowden.
She is survived by her daughters; Caryn Coulombe of Acushnet, MA, Amanda Hopkins of Phoenix, AZ, her son; Jarrod Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, her brother; Jeffrey Bowden of Moorpark, CA, her sister; Diana Rothschild of Las Vegas, NV, and eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to diabetes.org.
