Rosa Maria Townsend

Rosa Maria Townsend, age 91, peacefully joined the Lord on August 21, 2024. She was surrounded by family during the time of her passing at Ascension St. Vincent’s Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

Rosa was a Cuban immigrant, a faithful member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a loving military wife of 61 years to Retired Chief Petty Officer Floyd I. Townsend, a mother to 6 children, as a well as a grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. All who knew Rosa in life knew her kind heart, strong will and strength through Christ, and her devoted love for her family. She treated all in her life with love and compassion, which was a true testament of her faith in the Lord. She served His Kingdom well and is now resting peacefully in His care.

Rosa is survived by her children Larry C. Townsend, Christopher C. Townsend, and Christina Townsend, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd I. Townsend, her children, Rose Marie Posey, Floyd E. Townsend and Ana F. Powell, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

A visitation will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Thursday, August 29th, 2024 at 12pm. A Mass of Chirstian Burial will be held immediately after visitation at 1pm.
