Ronald returned to Jacksonville, 25 years ago after retiring from teaching culinary arts for the Putnam County School District. He was one of a kind and loved people, food, and life so much that he shared his gifts with everyone he met. Ronald was the life of the party, and all highly anticipated his gatherings. Meals at his table were always open to friends, family, neighbors, and the occasional stranger.
Ron’s curiosity about everything and love of humanity especially his friends and family brought the world to his door where he promptly fed them, listened to their stories, troubles and adventures and shared his own. Everyone he met felt welcome and like family. He was generous with his time, love, and support and looked out for family, friends, and neighbors. Folks could always depend on Ronald to be there for them when there was a need, whether for groceries, rides, a word of encouragement or a laugh. He was especially good at laughing at himself. He searched and found the hand of God acting in our world and helped us all see it in our own lives. He believed that God is love and lived his life by that premise and was a faithful Vineyard Church member.
Ronald is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Nancy Leake Taylor, his four children, Rebecca Taylor, Christopher Taylor (Carol Taylor), Andrew Taylor (Lisa Taylor), and Daniel Taylor (Rochelle Taylor), his unofficially adopted daughter, Joy Baldry, six grandchildren, Jason Wilson (Natalia Gonzales-Wilson), Amy Wilson, Benjamin Taylor-Hunt (Conrad Hunt), Katherine Taylor, Shawn Taylor (Sammy Taylor), and Sonni Taylor, and eight great-grandchildren, J. Josiah Wilson, Jadon Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Julius Daley, Adalyn Anderson, Kyla Taylor, Alexia Taylor and Layla Taylor. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends, too numerous to count.
Ronald will be missed by all who met him and live on in the memories, love of food, and knowledge he shared.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.GreenlawnJacksonville.com for the Taylor family.
