Ronald “Ron” Gordon Kegley, Sr., 60, died at home after a very long illness Sunday, April 29, 2012. Born on December 14, 1951 in Jacksonville, FL to Fred Bascom Kegley, Jr., and Shirley Rae Roberson Kegley. He was a graduate of the Class of 1969 Paxon High School, Jacksonville, FL. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Music from Baptist College of Florida (formerly Baptist Bible Institute) in Graceville, Florida. He then continued his education to receive two Master’s Degrees in Voice and Conducting from Mississippi College, Clinton, MS. Ron taught Music at a Christian School in Orange Park, FL., he was better known to his students as “Mr. Kellogg”. He also was the Vice President of Kegley Bus & Charter Services of Jacksonville, FL. His passion for music and ministry to young people led him to serve in many churches throughout Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi, most notably at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs, FL. He also served in churches in Jacksonville, FL and Port St. Joe, FL; Waycross, GA and Glennville, GA; Jackson, MS, Terry, MS, and Raymond, MS. Ron is survived by his wife of 7 years, Barbara Moffatt of Jacksonville, FL; son, Ronald G. Kegley, Jr. (Amy) of Orange Park, FL; daughter, Pamela Kegley Thomas (Marc) of Tallahassee, FL, children of Ron and Paula C. Kegley, Tallahassee, FL; and step-daughter, Cindy Archibald of Chicago, IL; 2 brothers, Fred B. Kegley III (Beverly) of Jacksonville, FL, and Steven W. Kegley (Cindy) of St. Mary’s, Georgia; 2 sisters, Jeanna K. Bass (Tommy) of Jacksonville, FL, and Nancy K. Shaw (Rick) of Jacksonville, FL; 2 grandchildren, Gabrielle Archibald and Zachary Thomas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00am, Shindler Drive Baptist Church, 7100 Shindler Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32222. Funeral Service will conclude at the Church.
