Roger Joseph Pelletier, 90, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013. He was born on May 18, 1923 in Lewiston, Maine to Cyprien Pelletier, and Marie Albert Pelletier. He was the last surviving son of 6 boys. Roger served in the United States Army during World War II, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in the offices of Gen. Douglas MacArthur. He received several medals and ribbons, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Gloria, in Brisbane, Australia. They were married in Brisbane on September 14, 1944, and have shared over 68 years of wonderful marriage. He and his wife were the proprietors of Fashion Dry Cleaners in Galesburg, Illinois for many years, and moved to Jacksonville after retiring. He enjoyed a good cigar, a game of cribbage, The Wheel and Jeopardy, and sports of all kinds, especially Red Sox baseball, and traveling. He was a long-time member of St. Paul's Parish-Riverside. His biggest love was family and he reminded them every day that his family was the greatest blessing of his life. Roger is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria L. Pelletier of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Suzanne P. Murphy (Kevin) of Jacksonville, FL; son, Michael J. Pelletier (Sue) of Madison, Wisconsin; grandsons, Roger C. Murphy, and Edward C. Murphy of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Anna T. Murphy of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandson, Isaiah Nalos; great-granddaughter, Isabella Nalos of Jacksonville, FL, and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 6:30pm, followed by a family visitation to greet friends until 8:30pm at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home, 729 South Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL., 32205. A Celebration Mass will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 11:00am, St. Paul's Catholic Church, 2609 Park St., Jacksonville, FL. Burial will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL at 2:30pm, Thursday, June 13, 2013, with The United States Army Military Honors.
