Robert Roy Whitman, aka Whit to his family and friends, passed away December 3, 2023 after a 15 year battle with lung cancer. Whit left this home to be with our eternal father surrounded by his loved ones. He was a Marine in the Vietnam War and retired from the United States Postal Service after 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a jokester and knew how to make you laugh. His family and friends meant the world to him and there was not anything he would not do for them.
He had heart of gold and was a gentle soul. To know Whit was to love him. He will be missed by all.
He is predeceased by his father, Roy Robert Whitman, his mother Lou Mildred Dunblazier, his two sisters, Lois McGarvey and Ann Newsom. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughter, Kristen Arranz (Robert), his son, Alex Whitman, his brother, David Whitman (Janet), his grandchildren, Andrew Roberson (Kristen Hudson), Abigail Whitman, Ethan Whitman and Bryce Roberson, his step-grandchildren, Robert Arranz, Jr., Gabriela Arranz (Dominic Arizzi) and Elena Arranz and his step great granddaughter, Rayleigh Arizzi, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Whit's honor to the American Cancer Society to help fight lung cancer.
