Robert Red Thompson

Red was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jim Thompson & Sonny Thompson, and sister Jackie Muniz. He is survived by his daughters Deborah (Robert) Bunch, Roberta “Robin” (Rafael) Gonzalez, Tiffany Thompson, and Judy (Bryan) Jolley; grandchildren Meghan (Jonathan) Roy, Kelly (Barrett) Gates, Marisol Gonzalez, David Thompson, Evie, Teagan and Adeline Jolley; 2 great-grandchildren; brother Phillip (Becky) Thompson; sister Judy McAbee and several nieces and nephews.

Red served in the US Army. As a devoted Florida Gators fan, he enjoyed both attending and working the football games. He also enjoyed worshiping at his church, Kernan Boulevard Baptist.

Memorial service with military honors will be held 2pm, Tuesday, June 9 at Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church, 4000 Kernan Blvd S. Jacksonville, FL 32224. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside service will be scheduled at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Red’s memory to the Kernan Boulevard Baptist Benevolence Fund.
