Robert David Riggs

Robert Riggs, lost his battle with cancer and passed away at his home surrounded by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Somone and son-in-law, Scott on August 19, 2018. Robert was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 8, 1948 but lived most of his life in Jacksonville.

Robert served as a proud Marine in Vietnam in 1969 as a Combat Engineer. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Combat Action Ribbon. Robert was a proud member of the NRA and The American Legion. Robert was a proud supporter of this Country and of President Donald Trump. Robert was a Ironworker by trade and worked in the Construction Field for over 50 years.

Robert leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Kathy; mother, Sonia; sister, Bonnie; brother, William; children, Swain, Sheri, Somone and Andrea, and numerous grandchildren.

A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held from 3-6pm on Saturday, August 25th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care.
