Mr. Reed was born In Brooklyn, New York and raised in New Jersey until the family moved to Jacksonville in 1960. He attended college before joining the US Army in 1963 and serving a tour in Vietnam. Upon his return, he began working for the family business and became company president in 1968, a role which he continued until his passing.
In Jacksonville, Bob met and married his beloved wife, Donna. Their marriage lasted for more than 50 years. Bob enjoyed traveling with Donna and spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was passionate about his dogs, horses and cattle and dedicated much of his time to his ranch and the animals there.
Bob was a quiet supporter of many non-profit causes in Jacksonville, including the Jacksonville Zoo, St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and local hospice organizations. He was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars fan and season ticket holder beginning with the team’s inaugural year.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Mae and Joseph Reed, and his wife Donna Reed. He is survived by his sisters Marilynn and Patti, numerous nephews, nieces, and grandnephews and grandnieces and many dear friends.
