Robert L. Newman

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Dorothy Rigg Newman, his parents, Louise (Wetherell) and Leslie Booth Newman and his brother, Edwin Booth Newman.

Surviving are his brother, William Wetherell and sister-in-law Jean Wehterell and several nieces, nephews and many loved ones.

Mr. Newman was born in Richmond, VA and moved to Jacksonville with his family in 1936. After graduating from Robert E. Lee he returned to Virginia. He enlisted in the VA National Guard and served in Europe with 100th Infantry Division during World War II, receiving a bronze star for his service.

A private funeral was held January 13, 2011. Pastor George Mills, Yukon Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL officiated.

Mr. Newman asked that donations in his name be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32216.
