Robert Bryan Hipp, 51, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13 in Jacksonville, Florida after bravely fighting brain cancer for over ten years. God, faith, family and friends were hallmarks of Bryan’s life, while his gentle, kind, and loving ways impacted all who knew him.
Bryan was born to Lucia Robinson Hipp and Charles Augustus Hipp on April 30, 1972, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After graduating from Plantation High School, he attended Valdosta State University and received his BA degree in Organizational Communications in 1996. The beauty of the Rocky Mountains and his sense of adventure led him to Aspen, Colorado, where he worked in the hospitality industry. In 1999, Bryan moved to San Francisco, California and worked for TD Equity Options on the Pacific Stock Exchange before returning to Florida in 2004. He settled in Jacksonville, became a licensed real estate agent, and worked in real estate, sales and with Ecolab. Bryan’s wise decision to move to Jacksonville was confirmed when he met Jennifer, the love of his life, there. They were married in 2009 and were blessed with a son in 2010 and daughter in 2012. After Bryan was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013, he became a dedicated stay-at-home dad, which he would say was the job he loved the most. Bryan, Jennifer and their children resided in Jacksonville, surrounded by wonderful neighbors all 14 years of their marriage.
Bryan was so proud of his children and his greatest joy was being with them, Jennifer and their goldendoodle. He retained loyal friendships from early childhood years and added new ones wherever he went. He loved to golf and enjoyed fishing, live music concerts with friends, riding bikes, snowboarding out West, traveling with family and friends, watching football and basketball and even the birds in his backyard… and he loved food, especially pizza! Bryan truly enjoyed life and spread that joy to those around him.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Dr. Jennifer Auerbach Hipp, and his children, Davis William Hipp and Allison Lindsay Hipp of Jacksonville, Florida. He also leaves behind his mother, Lucia Robinson Hipp of St. Johns, Florida and his brother, Charles Augustus Hipp Jr. (Faith) of St. Johns, Florida. Bryan was predeceased by his father, Charles Augustus Hipp in 2021. Bryan’s genuine smile, great hugs, unassuming presence, sense of humor, and loving spirit will also be missed by his extended family and friends, both far and near.
Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, January 18th at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge. The funeral service will be at 11:00am on Friday, January 19th at Deermeadows Baptist Church, followed by burial at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery. There will be a brief reception at Oaklawn for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for the future benefit of Davis and Allison by contributing to Jennifer Hipp in memory of Bryan Hipp.
