Robert (Bob) Henson passed away on November 2nd, 2019 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida at the age of 77. Bob was born in Gainesville, GA to E.W. and Bonnie Henson. Bob grew up in Athens, Georgia where he graduated from Athens High School. He then graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Human Resources. He married the former Kathryn Sweat of Jacksonville, Fl to whom he remained married to for over 56 years. After graduation he and Kathryn moved to Cleveland, GA where he was an Industrial Engineer for Talon Zippers. While with Talon, he was sent to Wuppertal, Germany to open zipper plants. He later moved to Meadville, PA to work at the home office of Talon. From there, Bob moved to Columbus, OH as the VP for Human Resources for Beverage Management. He then came back to Atlanta as a VP for Seabrook Enterprises and Atlantis Plastics before retiring in 2006. Bob and Kathryn moved to Jacksonville in 2012.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents E.W. and Bonnie Henson; his Brother E.W. Henson Jr. and his Sister Kathleen Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn, his 2 sons Michael (Debbie) of Columbus, Matt of Birmingham and daughter Meghen (Chris) Gawlik of Jacksonville. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren – Jennifer (Jordan) Raugh, Taylor Henson and Carolyn Gawlik.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 11th at the Oaklawn Lodge located at 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl (904-737-7171). A reception will follow the Celebration of Life service.
