Robert E. Dukes, age 72, passed away on March 6, 2015. He was born February 24, 1943 in Fernandina Beach, the son of the late Everett Dukes and the late Pauline Bowden Ybanez. Robert served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He retired from the City of Jacksonville Health Department after 21 years of service. In 1978 he started Dukes Tree Service and has served the community for 37 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and has been a member of the Clayno Hunting Club since 1975.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pam; devoted children, Kimberly (Waverly) Rusak and Shelly (Rob) Walker; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Drew, Brooke, Cole; sister, Patty (Chad) Butler; brother, Scott (Eileen) Ybanez; parents Jack & Lois Ybanez. He is also survived by his mother & father in-law, brothers & sisters in-law, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Additional visitation on Wednesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with Funeral Service to follow at Mandarin Baptist Church, 11244 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223. Father in-law, Dr. Dan Davis will be officiating. Internment to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Mandarin Cemetery.
