Robert Roland Dickert, 87, longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danville, PA, son of the late Robert William and Nellie Mae (Blank) Dickert.
A WWII Naval Veteran, he saw action in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Graybar Electric Company for 25 years. He later worked for Ameriprise Financial Services for over 30 years. A graduate of the University of Florida in 1948, he was a lifelong Gator. Robert was an ordained Baptist deacon and was very active in many churches. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, the Masons, the Shriners and volunteered for years at the TPC. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Palatka.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Betty J. Dickert and a sister, Mildred Pandolfi.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby H. Dickert, two children, Patti Cowart and Jim Dickert (Virginia), step-children, Pat Gillen, George R. Hanlan Jr. and Carol Streets, two grandchildren, Emily Gray (Reid) and Hilary Dickert, two great-grandchildren, one more on the way and many dear friends.
The family will greet friends at a visitation on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 4 – 6 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. The funeral will be at 10 am Monday, July 23, in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
