Bob was born August 5, 1943 in Beattyville, KY. His parents were Emory and Marie Cockerham. Bob served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967. He graduated with a Masters of Business Administration in 1975 from University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. Bob was dedicated to his family and to the Lord by serving many ways with his gift of leadership. He taught Sunday School and Children’s Church in addition to serving as an Elder and Chairman of the Board at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY. He was also a charter member and Founding Elder/Chairman of Creekside Christian Church in St. Johns, FL.
Bob worked over 30 years for the Railroad with L&N and CSX, most recently as VP Employee Relations before his retirement in 2000. He was a fourth generation Railroader with a focus in labor relations and human resources. He was a kindhearted and strong mediator with a unique ability to peacefully solve labor disputes.
He is predeceased by his parents, Emory & Marie Cockerham; his siblings, Patricia (Cockerham) Pinnegar, Paul Cockerham, and Michael Cockerham. He is survived by his brother, Ronald Cockerham [Susan] and his sister-in-law, [April] Cockerham.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Pat) Cockerham; his children, Dana (Cockerham) Peterman, [Chuck], Chris Cockerham [Pam], John Cockerham [Kathryn], his grandchildren; Ryan Peterman [Kaley], Aaron Peterman [Kelsie], Nathan Peterman [Morgan], Carter Cockerham, Kelly (Cockerham) Wallace [Jonathan], Hunter Cockerham, KatyAnn (Cockerham) Evans [Brandon], and Max Cockerham. Great-grandchildren include: Kensington, Hannah, Owen, Silas, Cora, Cade, Colt, Hope and Kennedy Peterman.
The Family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Baptist South Hospital staff on floor 5B. Special deep gratitude is extended to Community Hospice 7th Floor Baptist South Hospital for their kind and compassionate care during the final days of Bob’s life.
Bob will always be remembered by his family and friends for his ability to listen well, understand, see the best, and extend kindness to everyone he met. He has left us a godly legacy of love, sacrifice, dedication and faithfulness.
Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Creekside Christian Church, 92 Lifespring Way, St. Johns,
